Frog InformationThe frog is an amphibian in the order Anura and can be found almost anywhere except the Antartica. The word amphibian comes from the Greek words, "amphi" = "both" and "bios" = "life". Amphibians spend part of their lives under water and the remainder on land. Adult frogs are characterised by long hind legs, a short body, webbed digits, protruding eyes and the absence of a tail. Most frogs have teeth (in the upper jaws only). Frogs and toads are very similar animals, but toads have shorter legs and have no teeth at all. There are more than 4,000 species of frogs in the world.
